‘Gyopo’ college graduates flock to Korea for jobs

NEW YORK ― Teaching English never interested EJ Kim, a freshly minted university graduate with a degree in international relations. She never knew why her friends, or friends of friends, after spending so much money on their education, would leave home for Korea to teach English.
Now she knows.

“It’s just impossible to land a decent paying job here these days,” said Kim, who has sent roughly 45 to 50 resumes to private companies, non-profit groups and government agencies over the past six months.
