Welcome to Expacked (Issue #68)

April 15, 2010

I may have been a little quick last week when I said that spring had arrived in Seoul.  Last week was meant to be the start of the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, however, due to the cold spring and the late blooming of the cherry blossom trees, the festival was postponed a week.  The festival will be starting this week and I look forward to heading down to see it again.  Tree in full Blossom

If your students seemed down this week, it could have been due to the huge StarCraft cheating scandal that has rocked Korea.  As most of us know, StarCraft is a massive professional e-sport in Korea and this will be a major blow to the ‘sport’ and entertainment business.  Click here for further details about this story.

On a positive note, however, this will make a great classroom  lesson and discussion about morals, cheating and professional ‘sport’.

These are the teaching stories making the news this week:

Feel free to comment on any of the stories and share the any of the interesting ones with friends.  Enjoy the read and, of course, have a good laugh at this week’s jokes.

Cheers,

Ken
