Colleges will not Consider TOEFL Test in Student Selection

April 15, 2010

Under the new system for university entrance, students will not be given extra credit for achievements in private education.   The Korean Council for University Education yesterday announced the common standards on the new university entrance admissions officer system.
Universities may not limit applicants to graduates of elite high schools or winners of academic competitions, according to the standards.

They may not require them to submit the results of language tests such as the TOEIC, TOEFL, TEPS, JLPT, and HSK.  English-language resumes and cover letters are also forbidden.
