Welcome to Expacked (Issue #63)

March 11, 2010

Some interesting stats came out this week about the people living in Seoul, Korea’s largest city.  A survey, run by the Seoul City Hall and Statistics Korea, highlighted that the average resident of Seoul is 37.6 years old and works in an office for 46.4 hours a week for 3,590,000 won a month.School Snow Mar 2010 small

The other points I would like to mention are that 60% of residents are middle class (earning between 2 million and 4 million won monthly) and that 580,000 won a month is being spent on education.

While there won’t be many native English teachers making the average 3,690,ooo won a month, it is good to know that most of us are easily earning enough to be in the middle class bracket.

Here are the stories making the news this week:

Feel free to comment on any of the stories and make use of the easy sharing options available – in just a few quick clicks you can share any of these stories to all your teaching mates in Korea.

I hope you enjoy the read and, of course, have a good laugh at this week’s jokes.
