Welcome to Expacked (Issue #39)

September 24, 2009

The biggest news last week, for Expacked readers, was definitely the news about the 7 day stand down teachers were forced to make if they travelled overseas.  I am now happy to say that the Government has this week officially cancelled this 7 day requirement.  If teachers are going outside the country for Chuseok they are now allowed to start working again straight away.Random Korean School

Although I have not seen any write up about this in the Korean English newspapers, our school has been sent an official notice cancelling this requirement. My co-teachers have also told me this was publicized through Korean TV news programs earlier in the week.  If you have seen anything about this in English, I would appreciate it if you could post a link of this on Expacked.

One thing I also want to quickly mention is the possible cancellation of this Saturday’s Seoul International Fireworks Festival – Brian’s got Details of the Story Here.

As usual, Korea has no shortage of news impacting teachers and I have a quick summary of these stories in Expacked this week.  Please note that Expacked also has a list of upcoming events just below the summary of stories.

I hope you enjoy the read and, of course, this week’s joke (the return of ROKetship!).
