Report: Hagwon Classrooms Have Polluted Air
Guess all you English teachers should be wearing those surgical masks after all.
A study has found that the air pollution situation in classrooms at large hagwons popular for kindergarten and elementary school students to attend grows worse as classrooms grow smaller. Particulates in the air including formaldehyde, which is used as an antiseptic sterilizer and can cause cancer and asthma, were found when the total volume of particulate matter (총휘발성유기화합물) was investigated in the hagwons.
