Welcome to Expacked (Issue #38)

September 17, 2009

We had a great turnout for our BarryFunEnglish competition and I am pleased to announce the winners this week.  Thank you so much to all those to entered the competition.  Each winner will receive a 6 month membership to this fantastic website.

I got my co-teacher to randomly draw the winners out of a hat.  The winners are:

Korean School

  • Alisha Joseph
  • Chris Dyer
  • Dathan Brown
  • jenn laing
  • Kate Corleison
  • Maarten Bazuin
  • Marlize Dippenaar
  • naomi rothmann
  • Shaun Connelly
  • Valerie Lemke

Congratulations!  Each winner will be sent their BarryFunEnglish Membership through email as soon as possible.

Although there are still plenty of things you can still do on the site for free, having a membership opens up the whole website for your use (The cost of membership is actually pretty cheap).   I did a quick review about BarryFunEnglish in issue #21 of Expacked, however I suggest you all go through to their website to check it out for yourself – you will soon start wondering how you ever taught without it!  Click Here for BarrFunEnglish’s Website.

Looking for a Job? EPIK Coordinator Position Available

EPIK are looking for a  new Coordinator for their offices based in Seoul.  This position requires someone who is a competent native speaker in both English and Korean.  Some of the activities this position involves include: interviewing new EPIK applicants, promoting EPIK, providing support to current teachers and managing events.  Click Here for Further Information (EPIK Website).

To be honest about it, if it was not for the requirement to also speak Korean, I would be tempted to apply for this position myself – and not promoting it through Expacked!

As usual, Korea has no shortage of news impacting teachers and I have a quick summary of these stories in Expacked this week.  For public school teachers, don’t forget to read the story what to do if you are leaving the country for a holiday and need to be quarantined.  The rest of the story headings are on the right.

I hope you enjoy the read and, of course, this week’s joke (It’s a great one!).

Thanks,

Ken
