Students Get the Dirt on Healthy Eating Habits

Students are learning about what’s on their plate and how it got there so they can have a better relationship with food.

Beads of sweat form on the foreheads of about 60 fifth graders as they plant rice in an empty lot behind Sanya Elementary School in Suginami, Tokyo.  “I didn’t know how hard it would be to produce rice,” 11-year-old student Deiki Mori said.
