Welcome to Expacked (Issue #29)

July 2, 2009

It’s July now and only just over a week to go before the week long Boryeong Mud Festival kicks off.  This is one of the biggest events on the calendar and is a must see for any expat in Korea.  I know I’ll be there, so maybe I will see you there!

If you are, like me, still working on your lesson plans for the upcoming English Summer Camps, here’s another great resource I thought you would be interested in.

Nelson, an English teacher for GEPIK, has developed a fantastic English karaoke channel on YouTube called icnelly’s channel.

This site has 104 videos songs (with lyrics) suitable for children of all ages who are learning English.  From old nusrey rhymes like ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a frog‘, to songs written to replace some of the terrible ones on the GEPIK 5th and 6th Grade CDs, there’s lots to choose from to bring some fun into your student’s Summer Camp.

As usual, we have a great summary of stories this week and the quick links are on the right.  There are some interesting stories on the future of English Education in Korea, so I hope you enjoy the read and, of course, this week’s joke.

Thanks,

Ken
