Reforms in Works for Specialty High Schools

The government plans to initiate sweeping reforms to the admissions system for special-purpose high schools as it looks to steer the institutions back on track. 

“Foreign language high schools and other special-purpose high schools have been widely considered as a stepping stone for getting admitted to prestigious universities, fanning private education,” Kwak Seung-jun, head of the Presidential Council for National Future and Vision, said yesterday while announcing the move in a local radio show.

“The schools need to recognize the intent of their birth – picking students with good proficiency in foreign languages.”
