Fourth Graders to Get Internet Addiction Tests

The government will launch a study to determine the severity of Internet addiction among elementary school children from as early as next month.   The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs said Sunday that regional health centers will test some 62,000 fourth graders at elementary schools across the country. Schools with relatively larger numbers of addicted children will have special counselors. The ministry will add 500 more counselors this year from the current 150 for the project.   “We need to learn the signs of Internet addiction among children at no later than the fourth grade to provide treatment,” a ministry official said.
