Welcome to Expacked (Issue #4)

January 8, 2009

I can’t believe this is already the second Expacked  issue for 2009!

Korean School

Most people will now be well into their winter camps, with many wondering just why they were so worried about it earlier.   While the classes are running a lot easier than first thought, there are already a lot of complaints about why we are forced to stay at school for the whole day.  With most winter camps only running in the morning, and the school virtually empty, why are so many of us forced to stay at school all afternoon as well?

The  answer from the schools seems to be, “so we can prepare lesson plans for 2009”, but come on, is all this time really necessary?  This is a complete waste of time for most of us and the schools need to realise how badly this is affecting our morale.

Most of us are being paid a salary, not on an hourly rate, so what is the sense in doing this?

There are some schools out there who really do value their teachers and do give them the afternoon off (once  any prep work for the week is finished of course).  I must admit, my school is one of these and it makes me feel so good to be working at this school.   We just need the other schools to wake up and understand where we are coming from and how this would be best for both the teacher and the school.

What are your thoughts?  Is there anything you can add to this so we can help others?

This week we have a bunch of new stories for you.  A list of stories is on the right for easier viewing.

Enjoy them and have a great week!
