Students Across Nation Sit For ‘Uniform’ Test

Students at elementary, middle and high schools across the country yesterday took a state-administered academic achievement test despite opposition from some teachers and parents who have criticized it for prompting “undue” competition among students.

Sixth graders in elementary schools, third graders in middle schools and first graders in high schools took the controversial test, which the Education Ministry claims is aimed at ascertaining whether students have any problem in following the educational curriculum.
